    Default Plans for the weekend

This weekend, I'm going to descend into the depths of my basement to clean carpets (thank you cat), put the family room back together (thank you, flood), and rearrange the craft room to accommodate a chest of drawers (thank you to the people who gave it to us). The chest of drawers will become the storage cabinet for my fabric stash.

When I started quilting, my husband's ex-wife (we count each other as friends) started teasing me, prophesying that I'd soon have multiple plastic bins filled with fabric. Since I had no plans to build a stash, I laughed at her. I currently have two plastic bins filled to overflowing with fabric and misc quilting supplies. It's only a matter of time before she comes back over and sees the proof. I absolutely cannot let that happen!

Besides, my stash is about to grow significantly. Dad let me know that he's ready to get rid of my mom's fabric stash. She had some pieces cut out for a quilt. I plan to use those pieces to create some quilts for my brothers and my dad and myself.

Sounds like a lovely plan for your mom's quilt pieces. I can't imagine anyone being a serious seamstress and not owning at least a couple of bins of fabric. I'd definitely say you're on the right track to becoming a pro! Hahaha! I brought back some of the fabric that was left by my mom. There wasn't very much since she had to stop sewing around 20 years ago. It pains me every time I think how the loss of eyesight could've been avoided. Get your eyes checked every year. Have your annual check-ups with your GP. You'll possibly increase the quality of your life in the years ahead. There are many illnesses that can happen that sneak up on you silently. When they become apparent it may be too late to fix the problem. I think of all those years Mom and I could've had so much fun sewing together... Oops! I'll stop now.

Meli ... if you have plans for the material it is not stash... it is a WIP,,, you just haven't started yet. After all you want to work out the exact details of the project in your mind so that you can overcome any snaffus that might come up....well that's my story and I'm stickin to it.....

Have fun cleaning and organizing. It is a lot of work, but when you are done, you will have a great feeling of satisfaction.

have a great time organizing. I know the cleaning part of it won't be that much fun, but just put on some great music and whizz right through it.
Great idea for your mom's fabric. Good luck.

Sounds like a wonderful plan for your mom's stash. Like Donna said, put on some jammin music and whiz right thru all of it.

UPDATE: Have decided to move the cleaning of carpets and organizing of stash to tonight (along with pre-washing fabrics, since all of mom's stash is pre-washed). Why, you ask? Oh, no reason. Except that several weeks ago I offered to make a baby quilt for a coworker if others wanted to pitch in and apparently baby will be arriving any moment and suddenly people want it and can I bring it in Monday or Tuesday? Found the cutest pattern called "Key to my Heart", which uses 1 Jelly roll for the top. That's it. My type of quilt!

Sounds like you've got quite a lot on your list for the weekend. Have fun and good luck with the baby quilt.
