    Default Status of Quilt

I have finished putting on the borders on all four sections of the king quilt, so I am ready to prepare the backing, mount it on the loom, and start quilting! When we tried to mount the Grace pantograph, we found it was missing a part. Hubby called, and it came yesterday, just in the nick of time! We mounted it this morning, so I will be ready to go as soon as I can finish mounting the quilt.

When I started the king quilt, I was determined to make it perfect. Since each block was different, I was resolved to redo each block until it was perfect. That didn't last long! I tell you, I have gotten where I don't care what it looks like, just get it finished. So, the blocks don't line up, and points galore are cut off. I know now why putting cornerstones in helps because it keeps the blocks lined up. My thinking was that, since I squared up each block, if I started the sewing of the blocks together equally, they would line up down the row, but I guess my blocks weren't exact enough. In any case, I no longer care! I still have so much work to do, even after the sections are quilted! Putting the sections together will be a big job, and you can bet I'll be machine binding it because the joining of the sections will take a bunch of hand stitching, and that is enough for me.

Although I love the colors in this quilt, I can't wait to try something with different fabrics! And, I have a bunch now to chose from. No more sewing today. We are going to run some errands, and tomorrow is a family reunion, so maybe back on it Sunday.

The end of the tunnel is in sight on your quilt. I know how you feel about wanting to get it done...I've made two kings this year and they wear me out wrestling with them. Take your time and do the best job on the quilting you can do....you will be so proud of it when you are done and you will have a magnificent quilt. Good Luck...Barb

I can't wait to see the finished quilt! Pictures, pictures, pictures. Or pictures of the quilting process.

It will be an amazing piece of art! All different blocks in a king size quilt . . . let's just say its never going to happen to me in my lifetime. It's been fun watching it take shape and come to life!!

I set up the pantograph for a pattern that was three-sided squares, but when practicing with the stylus, it kept bumping at every corner. I switched to a wavy line, maybe you could call it a scalop. I would love it if everyone would give me their opinion on which of the eight styles I should use. You can combine them. I think the large scallop can be turned upside down after one pass and make it into a circle. I don't know. Like I said, I first picked the three sided squares, and then the smallest scallop or wave.

I think I saw some videos on it in Youtube, so I am going to look at them. I still have a couple of days to start quilting, and I have never used this before. I wish I had some experience.

I like the wave. So glad that you decided perfect is not very realistic, when you are just wanting to get it done. I am sure anyone else that sees it, will think it is stunning and not even notice the mistakes. Mistakes are what makes them our own.
