I have finished putting on the borders on all four sections of the king quilt, so I am ready to prepare the backing, mount it on the loom, and start quilting! When we tried to mount the Grace pantograph, we found it was missing a part. Hubby called, and it came yesterday, just in the nick of time! We mounted it this morning, so I will be ready to go as soon as I can finish mounting the quilt.
When I started the king quilt, I was determined to make it perfect. Since each block was different, I was resolved to redo each block until it was perfect. That didn't last long! I tell you, I have gotten where I don't care what it looks like, just get it finished. So, the blocks don't line up, and points galore are cut off. I know now why putting cornerstones in helps because it keeps the blocks lined up. My thinking was that, since I squared up each block, if I started the sewing of the blocks together equally, they would line up down the row, but I guess my blocks weren't exact enough. In any case, I no longer care! I still have so much work to do, even after the sections are quilted! Putting the sections together will be a big job, and you can bet I'll be machine binding it because the joining of the sections will take a bunch of hand stitching, and that is enough for me.
Although I love the colors in this quilt, I can't wait to try something with different fabrics! And, I have a bunch now to chose from. No more sewing today. We are going to run some errands, and tomorrow is a family reunion, so maybe back on it Sunday.
