    Default Studio re-do...

    Attempt 4? 5?

I am hopelessly optimistic that the perfect studio set up will mean productive hours sewing and that little house elves will appear to fold and put back my stuff, if only it has a happy home to return to.....

This time, I decided I really needed a change...so DH and I went to IKEA for the day (such a sacrifice, I tell ya )
Here is the before photo.... and the After. (well, more like ---during....)

I got rid of the ironing board, because I couldn't keep containers under it. What ended up was always finding random bags to stuff into corners.

We bought the frames for two WALL mounted kitchen cabinets. The upper cabinet, not the base. And then a set of shelves. Put legs on the one (with a little adaptation) and then bought a piece of wood, 18x 48 and covered it with batting and then Teflon fabric.

I decided to get the second cabinet to fit under the cutting table.

All that is left for the moment, is to purchase more of the 12x12 scrapbooking containers. I really want everything to be in the same 2 or 3 containers, because if I fill up the shelves with them now, I know what space I have to work with.

Sitting under the ironing surface on the floor are totes full of scrap fabric. A whole other project!! On the wall to the left, which you cant see, are 4 shelves full of those same totes, that hold my yardage.

Another project will be sorting them out by color/type of fabric, but I figured I needed to get stuff contained first. I can finesse later....

Phew. Plus, I found some fabric I had been looking for!!!!!

So nicely organized and big and workable! Makes me miss my large sewing room and yes wouldn't it be nice for someone to come in and 'organize' us
    Gotta love Ikea

Your sewing area looks wonderful! I always feel like I can't think straight and my mind is cluttered if my work area is cluttered. You really made a world of difference in that room.

Aww that's sweet! I would love to have an extra room. I have thought about taking over a portion of the dining room. It's not like we eat in there or anything. LOL I wonder if I can talk my hubby into that....

    But looks great!

That looks good. If only mine were that organized. Forget the little elves coming and folding and putting things back as I use them, i would need the elves to come cook, clean and do my laundry for me. My two grandsons would starve to death, I would be out in my sewing room all the time and my daughter sits on her butt on her phone on either face book, pinterrest, or texting her friends. The only time she is on the home computer is when she is doing her home work and then her phone is right there with her. Her two boys are always coming to me asking for stuff.

I have a 1/2 of a garage that is mine and the other half is my husbands. We are going to start working on it again this weekend when he is home. He works out town during the week. But hay if we get it started where I can work on by myself when he is gone then....just saying. I evening thought about having a garage organizing party, but then I would have to take inventory of my stuff and make sure nothing walked out the door.

Again looks good. Keep up the good work.
