Default Questions about selling baby blankets - experience? thoughts?

Hello ladies & (and some Gents?)! Hope everyone is doing well.

I was just talking to my husband about something I'm thinking about doing, but have some doubts and worries about it. I am not sure how often these sort of things happen, but was wondering if anyone has done baby blanket selling at mommy to mommy sales? I'm curious because I thought this would be something I could do. I was maybe thinking something that is simple and fast making but sells too.

I'm just curious if anyone has done this before. What were your experiences with this? Was it at all successful (if you don't mind me asking) and did you enjoy doing it as well?

Please give me any input on this. I would highly appreciate any input you have to give me, I'd love to know what you think about it.

    Thanks...

Hi CJ, I sell baby quilts and lap quilts at local markets and mother's fairs. While they do sell it usually takes about 3 or 4 markets before a quilt will sell. Mostly I take about 4 to 6 quilts in different sizes and designs as show pieces and take custom orders at the markets. I do still sell the show pieces but only when someone wants something there and then, usually they are happy to wait for a custom quilt. I also sell smaller items like baby change mats, nappy pouches, burp cloths and bibs. These items generally sell out at every market and are a lot quicker and cheaper to make than a quilt. I have just purchased some quilt panels to make some cheaper quilts for the next market. That is an easy option and usually a lot cheaper than making a patchwork quilt top. Just add backing, quilt and bind. Matching decor sets are great too eg. quilt, pillow, nappy stacker, wall art, etc. Feel free to check out my facebook page, I also sell lots of items there, the link is in my signature line

    Hi CJ,

I say go for it! Anything that you're passionate about can be turned into a profitable business. I have been selling baby blankets for quite a time now and so far the business has become a family business and a good main source of income. Of course, starting can be hard and earning money may take some time. But take it from me, just do what you want to do and soon enough you'll get there. I suggest you also start your own website, if not perhaps sell your blankets in etsy or ebay.

    I hope that helps.

BTW, you may check out my personalized baby items store to get ideas on how you can run your own baby blanket business. Good luck!

I make and sell lots of flannel quilts, mostly for babies. I've been doing this so long that I no longer have to take them to fairs/shows, I just get phone calls. I sell my smaller rag quilts (36x45) for $70. I used to really enjoy making quilts to sell, but not so much now. It's not because people were difficult, it's just that I'm slowing down a bit.

Can you share how the nappy pouches are made?
