Quick easy and snuggle-able ?
Is that a word-snuggle-able? Tis now
I have a friend who has just been diagnosed with breast cancer and I would like to throw together something that she can snuggle into while in the chemo chair. Since I am in the throws of the memory quilt and need to get another done before Christmas, and my friend will be starting chemo soon, it really does need to be simple and quick.
She loves the water and has been looking for a weekend retreat place on a lake so I thought about using a panel with a water scene on it or a minkee rag quilt would be soft and quick. Not sure I am in love with either of these ideas though so am looking for advice and inspiration. Remember, I am a beginner quilter so easy peasy is the word of the day.

Re: Quick easy and snuggle-able ?
I think a rag quilt would be perfect! I have only used minky once and prob won't use it again. While the quilt turned out nice, it took a lot longer than it should and the minky was such a pain!
I try to remember to make my rag quilts bigger than I really want because of the shrinkage.
This seller on etsy has some wonderful flannel. It's thick and soft and doesn't shrink as much as a lot of flannels. http://www.etsy.com/shop/MalibuQuiltworks
Easy peasy and you could finish in a day if you pushed. Cutting the little edging is what takes the time. If you don't have rag quilt scissors, you might want to invest (sure saved my hands and my sanity!)

Oh love that flannel RiverMomm and the charm pack as well Lisaau, thanks. What about a quillow? I have never make one. Are they fairly easy? And for those that have made them do you have any good patterns?

I think a pillow case would be a good idea. That way she could take her favorite pillow, and wash the cover as much as needed. I think there is a MSQS tuturial on making pillow cases but I am not sure.

Re: Quick easy and snuggle-able ?
quillows are easy to make. I use the link CrazyMtnLady posted. The nice thing about them is they fold into themselves for easy carrying. You could go a step further and make a tote to go with it so she could keep her things(books, dvds etc. whatever she takes ) together and ready to go.
If you do do a rag quilt, think about investing in spring-loadedscissors or the special rag snips. Your hands will thank you
