Quillows are the way to go. I used a pattern similiar to the link above a few years back for my Mom when she was going through chemo. It was quick, easy and so appreciated.

The nurses told us to make it longer, so they could cover her feet. That is because their feet get cold quickly being up on the foot rest due to circulation. The quillows are great and she could stick her stocking feet in the pocket when it is unfolded. Works great! Hugs, Jan L.
