Nancy, What are you doing up so late? Can't sleep?
I have never cut myself while cutting fabrics (KNOCK ON WOOD, TURN AROUND THREE TIMES and anything else that will not jinx me!). Everytime it has been because I was picking it up to cut or I left the guard off and brushed my hand by it. For a while there, I was sure that I didn't even have to touch the darn thing, just being in the same room with it would be sufficient!
I'm so sorry you got hurt! I guess we do play around all day with a very sharp blade. Ever since I sliced into my finger, which was stupidly hanging out over the edge of the ruler, I've had a much healthier respect of my rotary cutter. With kids in the house I make sure mine is always closed when I'm not cutting and up very high when I'm not actively cutting. I know these kids - they could find a way to open it and that scares me more than anything else. Hope you heal up quickly.
