Default Today's DD has me getting ahead of myself

It's nearly August. Which means the holiday season is approaching more rapidly than I would like. And I've already given myself the task of making two jelly roll quilts for Christmas presents. This is in addition to the Farmer's Wife quilt I want to start in September. And the Christmas table runner I want to make for my best friend. And the Halloween table runner I need to make for someone else. AND the baby quilt I"ve been commissioned to make. And, lest we forget, I still have 3 WIPs. All of which completely escaped my mind this morning when I saw - and purchased - the Daily Deal fabric because it would be PERFECT for a quilt for my baby brother (5'11, 135lbs, he needs all the warmth he can get!) He very much likes all things Pirate. So I bought it. And said, "I can make him a cute quilt for Christmas."

Obviously I need to give up sleeping so that I'll have enough time to get everything done between now and the end of the year!

    I've lost my fool mind.

I know how you feel, I'm putting away my fabric haul and having to rearrange everything! Also found project fabrics I bought before my trip. Yikes!! I'm know dedicating a shelf for my projects for the next quarter. I better get use to 4 hours of sleep...I'm in big trouble. lol

Completely forgot: My niece wants to come over, spend the weekend with me, and learn how to quilt. I'm thinking a tied jelly roll is in my future!

I was going to make one quilt. For mom. And be done. And then I started watching Jenny's tutorials. (sigh) Which means, I guess, that it's Jenny's fault! And she feeds my addiction with daily deals. The evil plot begins to unfold!!!

    Meli,
You are now officially a quilter! Welcome to our world!
Just label everything with the reason you bought it, and store it with all of the pieces together. Oh yeah, make sure you buy the complementing fabric about the same time. A. You may never find it again, and B. colors change over the years and you may never find the right match for that red, green, blue, etc.

Sounds like you have your work cut out for you, but think of the look on their faces on Chritmas!!

At least you know NOW what you want finished for Christmas. I won't say 'who', but someone on this board doesn't decide what to make everyone until Dec. 1st comes along. One year there was the heated rice bags. I remember sitting up all through Christmas Eve in the basement (which wasn't heated) sewing up those bags. My dad's hasn't been touched since I gave it to him, in fact his is still hanging on the doorknob he tossed it on while enroute to the kitchen. My sisters - well that's lost in all her stuff. But you will be happy to know that mine sits in the freezer among many other ice packs and it's the first one anyone grabs when need an ice pack or heated, good smelling hot pad.
There was also the year I decided about Dec. 23rd to make everyone a set of coasters. One year was table runners and I think that idea popped into my head about Dec. 24th in the morning.
I can't help it if I rack my brain for months ahead of time and the ideas don't flow until there are only hours left!!
Quilts? HAHAHAHA. There would be no way. I tried to get the kids their I SPY quilts finished for Christmas and they were finally finished for Valentines Day afterward. You talk about surprised(!!) when they usually get a store-bought card and a small box of chocolates. Those mint wafer kind. Ummmm, yummy!
I even tried to give my sisters theirs for their birthdays. However, the County Fair was after the one birthday. So, I entered both of them - each won a ribbon and since 1 quilt was late to be presented and 1 was ready so very early - they both got them when they least expected them. I love surprises!!

Good luck on all your gifts - can't wait to see photos!
