Default Collaborative Farmer's Wife Quilt Along -- anyone interested?

I have this crazy idea for a collaborative Quilt Along for blocks found in the Farmer's Wife Sampler. The idea is that the participants in the QAL would take turns presenting cutting and sewing instructions for the various blocks. Due to possible accusations of copyright infringement, we can't refer to the book itself. However, the patterns are all old ones and can be found all over the web.

If anyone's interested, let me know and I'll get the ball rolling.
If you can't see it from 50 yards away on a galloping horse, it doesn't matter.

Aren't those blocks about 3 square inches with 108 pieces?

Haha, Sandy, I don't think they are quite that bad.

I have the book, of course I've not done any of them. They are small blocks and a lot of them have many pieces. Not something I plan on taking on any time soon. I got the Hobo Quilt book as well and I think I'd be more apt to do those blocks first, not so small or detailed.

I just bought this book not too long ago And although Sandy exaggerated a LITTLE, I'm not sure it was by much lol I love the patterns and that I can look at all of them in one place, but it's all little paper pieces, even for HSTs! I plan on tackling it eventually, but certainly not for a while. Maybe if I could be an observer for the QAL I'd gain a little confidence, but right now I'm nowhere near skilled enough to try and show someone else how to make these squares when I'm not even sure myself lol

Sandy, the blocks are 6" when finished. The most pieces for one block is 32. Ok, ok, so it's a bit crazy. And, yes, the book suggests cutting triangles in order to make HSTs. SOOOOO not doing that! Remember the Cat Face Quilt? I've done my time in triangle quilting hell. I plan to rely HEAVILY on Jenny's tutorials to figure out how to make the blocks more easily. In fact, you should see my copy of the book. I've gone through and notated how I would quilt each one, how I would assemble the different components.

Like I said, I've got 3 UFOs I need to finish first, but they're all pretty close, so I'm thinking early September to get the ball rolling.

Early September I may be able to do. Especially if we're going to skip over some of the silly piecing (like triangles for HSTs)!

Could I make 20" finished blocks instead? You have no idea how I wish I were more productive, more accurate with my corners, more . . . well, just MORE! I would LOVE to be able to say I had made one of these - or a Dear Jane - but they are all beyond my patience level.

I think one could just double the sizes listed for the block and have a 12 inch one?? what say you guys?? Is that possible??

Would love to do something like this but for me this is totally un-doable for quite a while.

I think one reason the blocks are small (6") is that there are so many of them. Made into 12" blocks you would be able to make several quilts if you made all the blocks.
