Wich solid fabric is your favorite, or best quality?
Bella Solids or Kona Cotton? Or is there another amazing line I don't know about?

it is hard to get all the colors I want in either of these at one store. I love the Bella Solids that I can order online, but the stores have Kona. I have mixed them on quilts, although one feels a bit softer than the other.
My store where I get my machines has just decided to jump in the quilt fabric business, they bought a line of "blenders" from Jinny Beyer (never heard of this line!). It is amazing, there are 150 colors in the collection! Talk about finding the right color, you'll never have a problem finding it! And each of the fabrics has a subtle pattern in it, so they go together but aren't all exactly the same. I've never seen such a collection--it is beautiful fabric. Look them up "Winston's Sewing Center" They have the row of 150 bolts displayed in their latest email.
I just use any solid fabric I find that I like, regardless of manufacturer. I am not too picky, looking more at the price than the quality, although I do make sure it isn't real, real thin. I have seen the blenders, but have not bought any.
Joyce "She who dies with the most fabric wins!!"
I used to only use Robert Kaufman but my favorite LQS only carries the Moda Bella line. There are some other great solids too from Red Rooster and other quality lines. I'm not too picky anymore as long as it is a quality fabric that feels nice and I can't read the newspaper thru it!
Bella and kona are both good fabrics. But, because I can only buy Kona in a store, I also buy kona JR's. : )
Coleen

I'm not picky. I very rarely use solids. Whatever I find for good value is the way I go. I might stop into an honest-to-goodness quilt shop. That doesn't happen unless I can't find it elsewhere; I need to peruse for fun; or to check out the 50% off deals. I'm trying to use up stash! Now there's a novel idea! Haha. I cringe when I see the price of quilting fabrics these days. I just found about a half-yard piece stashed in my bin - 50 cents tag from WOOLWORTH'S. Now that sure dates me! Hahaha.

Rebecca in Baarn, Netherlands by way of Orange County, CA.
Kona cotton has been around for many years and comes in nearly every color imaginable. Kona has been the favorite solid for applique work for decades. www.Hancocks-Paducah.com carries the full line. Bella cotton is a really nice cotton and more and more stores are carrying it all the time. I prefer the feel of Bella and buy it whenever I can, but if I need a color that's not available in Bella I don't hesitate to use Kona. The Bella and Kona cost about the same, but Kona has a little more texture to it and Bella is smoother and just a smidge thinner than Kona.
Rebecca..Just seeing a Woolworth tag is a novelty in itself!!
That tag is too funny! I loved Woolworths. I alway's found such fun stuff there. I actually read a book on the history of that company.Really interesting.
I'm new to quilts and make childrens clothing. I started getting away from Kona because i'ts thicker and a little more itchy for what I was doing.
