Karen, I had a toaster that I had gotten as a wedding present and that I loved dearly. The toast lowered itself and raised itself slowly. After 35 years, I thought I had better replace it, and I did. I am sure it was a fire hazard, too.

I always turn my machine and iron off before I leave the building where my sewing room is. I am afraid of fires, too. I am so glad that was all that burned.
