Hehe, our toaster did the same thing a few months ago. Freaked my husband out, who was using it at the time. It dawned on me after how long it had been since I replaced the cord. The toaster was my grandma's. The "new" cord on it was about 35 years old. The toaster is 60+ years old. Bought a new toaster, but still have the old one. I'll replace the cord again and use it. Best toaster I've ever had.
