As anyone tried this...... A jelly roll rug.
I just found this idea on Pinterest and WOW - seems like a great project. Would love to have input. I do have a "concern" with the directions and completing the zigzag on the pinked edges. Who would have thought - a jelly roll rug!

This would also make a great tutorial... If Jenny is reading any of these! lol!!!

looks interesting. but for me, i would hate to use pretty quilt material for a rug.

I might agree, but looked like an interesting project and maybe worth a try! Still would love a tutorial, Jenny might have some tricks to make this easier!

This would make a beautiful piece for the dinner table to set hot pots on! I think it would anyway....

Agree with ttsucsok, would make a lovely table topper or island topper to set hot dishes on. I use my island at Christmas like a buffet and this would be nice in Christmas fabrics.

Could be used for hot pads, yes... table toppers. These could be made for all holidays! hmmmmmm - ideas, ideas, ideas!

Yes, I could see this placemat-size or as a table topper.

I don't like how the seams show on the strips. So I would sew the strips inside out and then turn them right side out, manuevering the seam to the center back and iron it that way. (Like you do for a tote bag handle) Then their wouldn't be any worry about zigzagging on the pinked edge. Little more work but I think I would be more pleased with a more polished look. IMHO!

Hmmm, given the right fabric, might be a good bath mat!

I think I would use this technique for a table runner rather than a rug. Barb

There is a commercial pattern out there that makes the strips into tubes and once you weave them all, it gives you a tumbling block effect. I bought the pattern but haven't tried it yet, and I'm not sure where I put it; I've moved twice since I bought it and I haven't come across it yet.
In fact, here is a link to the pattern:
