Default Stash... I swore I wasn't going to do this, but...

I ran into my local fabric shop this evening and noticed they have a clearance sale going on, all lovely cotton prints. The discounts are upwards of 70%. I gave them a glance and thought, "Hmm... if only I were starting a new project." Five hours later it occurs to me that I could go back, pick out several fabrics that I can use for the upcoming Farmer's Wife quilts I have planned and buy 2 yards each for a fraction of what it'll cost me otherwise. BKTHOMAS, you still in town? It's the Hancock Fabrics on 7800 S. 3200 W.

I can't believe I'm going to buy fabric simply for the purpose of stashing.
If you can't see it from 50 yards away on a galloping horse, it doesn't matter.

LOL, have fun, having a stash is important especially when the fabric is on special, think of all the money you can save and you can make more quilts using less money.
Remember, people will see your quilts long after you are gone. . . Not your housework!!

I'm always on the "look out" for cheaper prices and often visit thrift stores. I've found great fabrics in the cotton shirts, sheets and dresses. Not to mention top grade towels and wash cloth sets. Big lots has some sweet deals with scrapbook supplies and recently found jelly rolls, charms and layer cakes.

It just makes sense to me to have "stash" on hand, tho mine is pretty small, but I'm sure I have enough fabric to keep me happy for another 10 quilts.. big ones, too.

I might check the Hancocks in my area and see what kind of sale they have going on. My husband will kill me but hey. I've already told him that when I die bury me with what he can stuff in the casket and then give the rest to one of the local quilt shops for charity quilts.

I buy all the time without a project in mind. I know I will use it eventually.

Thank you so much for posting this! Hancock's is in Austin, 60 miles away, so I checked on line. They had some Batiks for as low as 3.99 a yard. They weren't my favorite, but hey, I can't be choosy. I ordered 16 yards, four from four fabrics. I am going to use them on my king quilt backing. I didn't think I could get so much from just one fabric because there are only 10 yards on a bolt. I am just hoping they will get me what I ordered. If not, I will still have saved a lot on what they do get me! I also used a coupon for $5 off. The code is HKFHELLO. It worked.
