PRAYER REQUEST

My MIL's home was hit by a tornado this afternoon in Merrillville, Indiana, which is about one hour from Chicago. She called us hysterical but she was not home at the time of the storm - she had taken her grandson to the doctor. We are so far away here in Missouri. Her name is Jean and she lives alone, although she has a daughter and grown grandkids in the area. I think most of her damage is on the outside of her home, but we are not able to reach her to check on her. She's 75 years old.

I would be hysterical, too. Sending prayers for Jean - and the rest of the family . . . you and your DH, too!! Please let us know how she's coping. Thank God she wasn't injured.

Thank goodness Your mil and her grandson wasn't home when the tornado hit! This has got to be really scarey for her. Hope you can talk with her soon.

Oh, Barb! I'm so sorry to hear about this! I didn't know there were bad storms up in Chicago. I hope her house can be fixed with insurance and some time. It is terrible what storms can do when they roll through quickly and with lots of wind and rain.

i haven't heard any news at all today - I am so sorry to hear of this. I can imagine the fearful terror. Praying for Miss Jean. Keep us updated, dear one.

Oh Barb, so sorry. I'm glad she wasn't home when it hit but how horrible to come home and find out your home was hit with a tornado. So hard to be so far away from her too.

Prayers said and will be repeated. Keep us posted and try and breathe. How scary and sad!

Prayers headed her way. So thankful that she was not home, and is ok. Things can be replaced, our loved ones can't. It is so very much harder on use the older we get though. So thankful she does have family near by to help her out.

Barb, I will keep your MIL in my prayers today. Merriville is about 150 miles straight across the state from my hometown. I guess I need to check in on our families to be sure the storm didn't go across the state and cause problems there.
It is always so nerve wracking when something happens to a family member and we are so far away and feel helpless to do anything.

I hope everything is okay. Good thing she wasn't home at the time, but still not much comfort to find your house like that. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

How horrible and scary. We only had a hail storm here and I saw what the damage from that can be. Luckily she was not home at the time and that she is safe. Homes can be fixed, lost lives can not be brought back. Prayers being said.
