Default JoAnn Fabrics ships to Canada now *

I was looking at the shipping rates for US when I happened to notice that JoAnns now ships to Canada*. The shipping costs are pretty good.

And if you wonder why there is an * beside Canada, it is because this EXCLUDES the province of Quebec, which happens to be where I live. WHY??!! (whine, whine, sniff, shiff). I don't understand why Quebec doesn't get some stores that are in the rest of Canada, or is excluded or gets that *. Part of it is the language issue, but come on . . . this is shipping (again, whine, whine, sniff, sniff). As an American living in Quebec, I miss the ease of shopping I knew in the States-just click and it comes in the mail in a couple days.

    From JoAnn's site:
    "Q: Do you ship Internationally?
A: In addition to shipping within the United States, its territories and possessions, Joann.com® now ships to Canada, excluding the province of Quebec."

Thank you RiverMomm for that info. There are some items that JoAnn has that I would like but living in Canada was not able to order. We are in Windsor, just across the river from Detroit, but since I don't like driving there, we never go shopping for bargains. Watch me now!!!!

Better talk to the people in charge of the province to find out why this is happening. Something wierd going on there and it sounds political.

It has been that way for years Jean. I have gotten used to it. You will just have to take a road trip to the states, RiverMomm!!

This isnt anything new. I remember entering contests for buying tickets for stuff that were sold throughout Canada but not valid in Quebec. It's not the retailers fault, it's rules set out by the province of Quebec. I odn't know why as I've never inquired. We always joke that it's Quebec's way of slowly pulling out of Canada as they've been wanting to separate from the country since the 70s. LOL

@ Monique-a road trip is in my future . . . as in next week. Which is why I was looking at Jo Anns. I just went down to Messena, NY last week but I miscounted and there was one package that hadn't arrived at the shipping place yet. Sooooooooooooo, I get to go again. And if I am driving there and spending the gas money, I might as well make it worth the trip and buy things I need (ok, fine-things I "want" which is different than "need"). I was checking out the shipping rates and there it was . . . shipping to Canada. Except not to me but its a start.

Since batting is so expensive here, I thought I would stock up. And while I am at it, I might as well stock up on fabric. And maybe thread. And some more fabric (NOT that I need it but you never know).

As for the politics, I don't understand the Quebec vs Canada issue and as an English only person, it is probably in my best interest NOT to get involved. LOL

Wasn't Quebec the one that wanted to secede from Canada? It wants to be like Texas, "a whole 'nuther country!" (as advertised in the travel ads for Texas.)

Hi Quilt Granny! You get the coupons online. I signed up for emails with Jo Anns. The free shipping that is offered is for the US only, so the discount coupon code is what you will be using. They only take one discount per order.
