Default I went to a quilt show today...

the first time this has been held, called the 'Mad Quilters Gathering' at the Melbourne Showgrounds. Approx 90 stalls which were all set out very well with plenty of room to move around. I spoke to a few stallholders who were not happy with the lack of people, this maybe due to the shocking weather or that it was not advertised that well. I only came across it through a newsletter I subscribe to ' Aussie Patches '. But alas there were a few bargains to be found and i spent some time watching demos on the Sweet sixteen & Avante long arm machines. My partner came and they didn't charge for him, and had a special 'blokes' corner set up with newspapers etc. So I was left to myself for most part and when he did find me he said 'Gee you haven't moved very far'
LOL. It will be interesting to see if they run it again and it gets bigger and better or it just disappears...
What I purchased was some lovely autumn flannel Fq's 10 fro $30 and some clear grip for my rulers.

Just think of it this way. You didn't have to fight people to get to a stall. I hope the attendance picks up next year.

I guess that was disappointing for the stall holders - I am looking forward to going to a quilt show I havent been to one yet. there is a conference here in September and am trying to work out wether I can afford to go to any of the lectures, unfortunately some of them are quite expensive - for my budget any way.
Remember, people will see your quilts long after you are gone. . . Not your housework!!

The Craft and Quilt Show people hold exhibitions in Melbourne towards the end of July and in Adelaide in November. I have been to a few in Canberra and they are amazing. The quilt exhibition part is huge and so inspiring and there is another large area dedicated to stall holders with all types of craft - and lots of show specials! Along with that there are many free workshops held during the day - some 1/2 hour some 1 hour duration. The entry fee is $14 or $12 concession. If the shows in Melbourne and Adelaide are like the Canberra one they are well worth spending the entry fee. The web site is http://www.craftfair.com.au/
Unfortunately I will miss this year's Canberra show as we will be away.

Now that's funny, I don't care who you are. Really got me giggling!!

Sure hope this continues as an annual event. As far as your conference - do go if you can afford the entry. I find that I am enjoying the displays and bargains more than I would sitting on a hard seat listening to someone talk and not being close enough to witness all the demos . . .
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??
