Calling all quilt guru's and all around smart women

Unlike me!!!!:lol:

Soooooo,,, i got the new Connecting Threads catalog.... on page 4, there is this table runner , that i am just in love with...This doesn't happen to me much,,, i always want to "tweek stuff"... but this one i really do like... it looks simple... but i never like to get Patterns... i can never follow them...
Am i right,,, can this be done with strips.. and cut on an angle, or do you think it's all "diamond shapes to fit together"... for some reason, i thinking there is a simple way to just "slice up fabric that's been strip pieced"...
What say you ladies with the "left brain" (if that's the one that is good with math)....it sure isn't mine...
Any ideas....???

Yes, you are right, it can be done with strips. Here is a link I saved a while back, scroll down part way and look how she lays her strips and cuts them (for a lone star) but I think it's what you want to do.

What a cute tablerunner! This is so doable, we just need to figure out what angle that cut is. Unless someone beats me to it, I'll play with some strips and see if I can figure it out tomorrow. :)

That angle of cut is the on almost every ruler I've seen. I want to say it is the 45 degree, but it has been so long since I made My Lone star quilt, I'd have to go look on my blog to see if I left the "how to" there.

I'm guessing a 45 degree angle. The diamonds look just like the diamonds that would go into a Lone Star quilt. And, if you used a different angle, what difference would it make? It would just be uniquely yours!

OOOOOOOOOOO Judy and Sharon... i am very flattered... you know me well....
it really is the reason i don't like to buy patterns....i want to be able to "make it my way"... but never without a little help from my friends.... thanks to all of you... i now can picture what i need to do....:)

Ya know what... i might just get the kit... it's fabric and pattern for 16 bucks.... why not!!!!!:)
