    Default Organizing fabric

Hello everyone....I have listened to what several of you wonderful folks have said and bought cartoon boards this weekend and have now got all my fabric organized and it looks really good. I had no idea there were different sizes but I found that most of my fabric fit well on the 8 1/2 x 11" boards and the scrappier stuff went on the smallest board 6 3/4 x 10 1/2". I didn't really free up any extra room on my shelves but it does look much more organized and I can find things easier. For the rest of the weekend I must get my reverse Jacob Ladder blocks at least cut out and need to make a repeat pinnie and hope it is a little bit more polished than the last one. I can't wait to get this darned old cast off....it is cramping my sewing style...lol. Hope everyone has a good rest of their weekend!!

I recently got all my fabric organized and am I ever pleased with it like this. I also used the comic book boards. I think they are a wonderful and inexpensive solution to what to do with a large stash.

I am organizing my sewing room right now! It has been a work in process for a few weeks as my classes have been really rough the last 3 months. I bought foam board at the Dollar Store (yes, I know it isn't acid-free; willing to take my chances with it) and cut the sheets into 5" X 12" pieces and have almost all my fabrics wrapped on them. I think I am going to have to get a few more sheets though! Today, I brought the fabrics back into my sewing room (they've been resting on the bed in the spare bedroom) and am getting them put up on the shelves. I am so pleased with how it looks! This has also given me the opportunity to cull out fabrics that I know I will never use (I will send them to a lady I know who is on disability and makes charity quilts). I'm hoping to have everything done by tomorrow nite as I have a week off of school and I want to spend it quilting!!!

I went thru the organizing my stash the end of last month. It's so much easier to go in there and find what I need. And to See what I have to replace. I also used the comic book boards..need to grab another batch. Who knew I had so much, when I feel so fabric poor? You will love to use and sew once the process is all done. Baby Steps and it will be done before you know it.

I, too, used foam board to organize my fabric. I like it because it is a lot stiffer and acts more like the boards they use for bolt fabric. Yes, I know it isn't acid free, but I'm not going to live long enough to care. I used about 50 boards and cut them into 6 larger boards and 2 thinner boards for fat quarters. I lucked out on getting the boards. Walmart's site had a box of 10 for $2.47! I ordered 4 boxes of 10 for less than $10. They sent me 4 boards. Seems the ad was incorrectly priced. However, when I complained big time about truth in advertising having made a print of their ad, they sent me 40 boards for no extra charge. That gave me 44, and the rest I got from Hobby Lobby at regular price. You can see my sewing room and the organized fabric in one of my albums.
