I'm new at this and was wondering if you have a FAVORITE on-line site besides my current FAVORITE one - MSQ, of course!
Also, what is your opinion regarding the quality of fabrics sold at Connecting Threads.com?
Thank you for any help!!

Hugs,
I have bought fabric from Connecting Threads and have had no problems with it. My favorite on-line store is whichever one is having a sale. This week my favorite is: http://www.honeyforkfabrics.com/cgi-bin/Store/store.cgi
Connecting Threads is having a wonderful thread sale too: http://www.connectingthreads.com/thr...Thread--600902
I have used fabric.com quite a bit. I live 55 miles from the closest brick and mortar store, so I do quite a bit on line. I have never used connectingthreads.com, although many do like it, and I might just try it sometime, too. Of course, I order from MSQC, too.
I really like fabric.com because they have a huge inventory and their website is easy to navigate, and the fabrics are well displayed so you can see what you are ordering. Their prices are good, they sell all major manufacturers, not off-brand cheap stuff. They have sales, and they ship fast. I ordered on Sunday, and got my fabric Thursday. I go to them when I want a major manufacturer that MSQC doesn't carry. They also carry licensed fabrics, which I use for kids quilts, and MSQC doesn't carry those. I found a collection on that website of fabric that I had originally found in fat quarters at Tuesday Morning, fabric.com had the coordinates!
My friend who is a theatre manager orders from them all the time, because they carry large quantities of fabrics. When you are costuming or dressing a stage, you need bigger quantities than when you are making quilts or garments, and they have it all in one piece! They even list their inventories for each item on the website.
I am not sure if I've purchased fabrics from Connecting Threads, I just got a paper catalog from them today in the mail, but haven't had a chance to look it over. I've purchased my basic threads for my quilting machine from them.
I order from Connecting Threads for several reasons. Quality, selection and speed. They're pretty close to me so even ground shipping is fast. Nice thread too! I also get good customer service. My second choice that comes to mind is Keepsake Quilting. Pricey, but they do have some pretty fabric collections.
Shirley, when I saw this post I totally knew your response would be first! If I wasn't at work today, I'da beat ya!
I buy most of my precuts from M*, but I also buy from Hancocks-Paducah, QuiltersCastle, Fat Quarter Shop etc, etc. I buy thread and batting from Connecting Threads when they are on sale. I have purchased some nice fabric from them and some that's not so nice. They give very good customer service. Barb
fabric.com, connecting threads, sometimes fabricdepot.com
I buy my precuts from MSQC all the time.
I am currently using some fabric I bought from Connecting Thread. I've been happy with it so far.
not that its worth telling the Merrycans lol but I love the Bramble Patch here in england. They have a fabby collection of batiks
Fabric.com and Bug Fabric for me!
Well . . . lol . . . guess where I've been all afternoon today??? Hehehe . . . fabric.com . . .
I love their site!! Very user friendly! And . . . they have a great search feature!
Thank you for the suggestions!!! You ALL are so helpful!
Hugs,
Fabricshack.com has a great selection and I love the 1/2 price shipping.
Ut Oh. Fabricshack.com is new to me....browsing, I may be in trouble. Oh dear.
Stitchesngiggles.com has a daily deal every day. But I really like Fatquartershop.com almost as much as M*.
I forgot www.thousandofbolts.com
M*QC of course and Fabric.com. I go window shopping a lot since I have no allotment for fabric any more. :( So I just drool and dream of having some new fabric!!! Maybe when my ship comes in!! LOL Yah right what ship??? LOL :)
Hugs,
Jan G
Same with me. I have never heard of Fabricshack.com, and after browsing there, I am in trouble. Isn't it wonder that just as you buy fabric and add it to your stash, you forget about it, and are in search for more fabric?
Oh JEEZ. I can see where this could go...
I've seen pictures of some of your stashes, and I ask of all of you, just one thing.
Please include me on your 'whom to notify' list, when your estate sale occurs....
Kidding aside, after browsing Fabricshack.com, I may have some explaining to do in the morning. VERY happy with MSQC daily deal (although of late, nothing has grabbed at me) and Connecting Threads. Great quality, fast shipping. Clotilde, SLOW ship. EBAY, (known product line and established vendors) lightning fast!
Ok so this is not about quilting but enabling . loving it.
Number one is MSQC of course. I also love Fat Quarter Shop for great selection of quality fabric, very nice website, extremely fast shipping and super customer service.
I love fabric.com. The design wall is AWESOME and I love free shipping over $35. They also send coupons frequently.
My new favorite though is Hawthorne threads. I love their tiered pricing and cumulative yardage discounts! http://www.hawthornethreads.com/fabric/new_arrivals
I generally buy here at MSQC. However, if I need other fabrics they don't carry I go to connecting threads or fabric.com. I have also purchased fabric on ebay when there is something very specific I find there.
MSQC of course, but I buy a lot from Fat Quarter Shop, they have super 50% off specials and it only takes about 10 days to get to Australia, have also bought from fabric.com and bugfabric.. never heard of fabricshack guess I will go and have a look :)
Just checked out the Hawthorne's site and theirs is the best organized web page that I've seen. They display everything so well and you can quickly see the coordinating fabrics and the solids to match, etc. Great site!! Thanks for the connection.
Brenda
just wanted to mention Eleanor Burns... she has a sight with some very good clearance pricing...
I'm just trying to get you all into the problem i have....(too much fabric!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)LOL
Attachment 23273I went to Eleanor Burns shop in Paducah and was surprised, all the fabric was $5 a yard. The prints are not as complex as some Moda for instance but still, I managed to buy a few yards plus have my picture made.:icon_wave:
I normally buy from MSQC or my local shop. But My local shop doesn't have the fun precuts and really bright colors.. So MSQC is my go to.
This place is just one city away from me. Our bee went there about 6 weeks ago. It is family-run and has other things--not just fabrics. http://www.creativemerchandisestore....LES/Categories
I just checked out www.fabric.com and love their prices and their selection. It appears they don't carry pre-cuts unless I overlooked them. Thanks for the site....Barb
Claire...So you got to meet the Queen!!! Isn't she a sweet person...!
I did not really get to meet her, just her cardboard cut out. Since I had a pic with Jenny, I thought I needed one with Eleanor, too.
