I work to support a sewing habit that I don't have time for, because I work!
Thank You for the info Shirley, it is very useful. I'm not sure I'm guild material, but I'm thinking about it.
I'm not sure I am either....but I found 3 close enough for me, in fact on one of them I know the lady that is listed as president. So I might give her a call and make sure the times and dates are still correct.

Thanks for the list, there is one in Cleveland
Nice list. I do not think I would fit into a "large guild". A friend asked me to go to her meeting one time. We took all our "quilting stuff" to have an evening of quilting and conversation. I come from a fashion sewing background but have been quilting for about 10 years. I sometimes think outside the box and am sometimes unconventional...well apparently this guild was the headquarters for the quilting police! Several times I thought I was going to have to slap someone on their comments. I use some of the tricks and shortcuts that Jenny uses in her tutorials, but according to this group, that is not acceptable.
I left them with a piece of information...if you cannot enjoy the work because of all the rules..Stop. And not every quilt is an heirloom.
They are probably not all the same way. Our guild is full of nice kind people [there may be some others but I have not met them yet]. At the meetings we do not do any sewing though, there is usually some sort of program or speaker. I particularly like show and tell, everyone gets applause for their efforts. Might be because you are in an audience and can't see up close, lol. We only meet once a month.
I am sorry, I made it sound like they are all bad. I have attended meeting with my aunt and had great time. So much information was shared. That particular group has a all night sewing "sleep-over" once or twice a year. Pizza, cookies, coffee, etc. And everone sews and talks and has a great time. But for a few women in the group, I may have joined. These were self absorbed, and quite rude, women who thought they were the only people who knew how to do piecing. Picked apart several ladies and had one woman, besides myself, ready to pounce. As we were getting our stuff together to leave I was asked would I like to join. I said I had great time for the most part, but I could not join due to those few ladies. I did say I would like to sit in on some of the meetings to try again, but the bossy lady said that you get one chance...gee I was going to give them another chance.
I did see a few on the list that are close to me. May have to try again. I like this group here on this board, we are our guild. Meetings everyday!
THanks! that is a more extensive list than I have found. There are a couple within a 45 min drive for me(I only knew about 2 before). I'm not much of a joiner but I would like to scout some out sometime, just in case. most seem to meet in the evenings, which works for most people but not me cause i'm on"graveyard".
I have been to the Cascade group's quilt shows. they are very nice.
