    Smile Super day at quilting....

Well, today was a wonderful day....
The machine my DD insisted was not working correctly... was taken to my quilt day today... i'm thrilled to find that it was simply that somehow she had the wrong bobbin.... DD is a whiz at most anything,,, but this she really screwed up on... i've never been a lover of "computerized" machines... but this Jem Platinum i bought for her was a lot of fun,.... I think she's going to get my old Elna from the 80's (hate to part with it,,,my beater and old faithful, but i think she wants a non computer machine, and rather than go buy something else,,, she's gonna get it... i'll use the Jem to keep at my quilt group's home place....
I made 2 more squares for the Cancer Warriors group and 3 for Klasien's Douwe group... I hope they still need them...
So all in all a super day for me...
Have a great night ladies... will see you all in the am... hugs B

Sounds like you had a great day. My machine is not computerized either. Thinking about getting one, but still a little hesitant. Hoping to get some quilting done tonight.

Sounds like you had a good day. I'm beginning to wonder if that's what I need, a mechanical machine. Maybe I need an idiot proof rotary cutter too.....thought I broke that last night but tonight I fixed it.

WTG, Babs.... I'd find it hard to give up the other one ,tho.

I have my old "stand-by" machine that I just couldn't part with because of all the memories it represents for me. No fancy gimmics or stitches .. just straight and zig zag!! It's over 20 years old now and still going strong. Then there is also My "baby" with all the bells and whistles. That's for my fancy stuff... applique work, mostly. But love all those fancy stitches!!!

I still have my 36 year old Bernina that I go to for special things. It has the narrowest free arm, and really is good for doing cuffs and hats for costumes. I have my machines with bells and whistles, but this Bernina still runs like a top.

There are pros and cons with computerized machines. I love the features you can only get with computerized machines, but I read about the many problems with them here on the forum. I have a 20 yo computerized machine (New Home by Janome) that's never needed a repair. I had better stop saying that...knock on wood! I have Featherweight machines that I adore for straight sewing, but that's really all they do. They are terrific for taking to classes or traveling. I have been thinking about buying a Janome 11000 SE for quite some time now and just can't make myself take the plunge. Part of my reluctance is that I live literally hours away from the nearest Janome or Bernina dealer if I need help or repairs. So I sit and sew with my old friend!!
