    Default LQS....

I've been going to a kind of "snooty" LQS in the town where I work.....well there is one in my hometown - about 20 minutes from where I live now. I decided to pay a visit since they were open until 7:30 this evening - they were having a 15% off sale - on everything. I am so glad I finally decided to go see what their shop was like - nice, nice people. They talked to me like we were old friends - first time I've been there.

They helped me pick out border and backing fabric for my brother's camo quilt....without making me feel stupid or rushed. I'm looking so forward to going back for the next quilt supplies I need.

It's good that you have the option of the "new to you" LQS.

That's great Shirley. It's nice to feel welcome when you visit a store. The gals in the fabric dept of the discount store where I shop are the same way. It's like old friends getting together every time I visit.

Don't you love going to a shop like that. So glad you've found a new 'home'.
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

So glad you found a nice LQS. I hate doing business where the people are snooty and act like the are so much better than you.

So glad you found a "nice" LQS! My LQS is my happy place. It is in an old 2 story house with a wide front porch complete with rocking chairs. Friendly, helpful, monthly sale and catered lunch . . .. Sometimes if I'm feeling stressed or just angry with the world, I will go there and as soon as I walk in the door and hear that bell ring, I am calmer and all is right in the world again! This shop is about 30 mins from my home. There is one that is about 10 mins from me and I bought my Janome there about 5 years ago. I have only been back to that shop maybe 3 times. They don't deserve my money!!!

I love my LQS....too expensive for me most of the time but I buy all my machines there....I currently own the Elna Excellence that I purchased there and have Lotus Elna on layaway and got a really good deal because of the Excellence purchase...plus I will get a $50 fabric certificate free for the business I give them...the Fabric Gallery is attached and part of the sewing machine shop and I love going there...always make me feel welcome. And at home!

Isn't it crazy that in this economy, someone who needs your business and your hard earned cash to make their business successful would treat a customer like they are dirt? What's up with being snooty? Then the customer doesn't want to come back, and will drive miles away to shop somewhere else.

I have a snooty LQS one mile from my house. One of the people who works there treated me well, and I bought fabric for a whole kids quilt from her, quite on a whim and because of her help. Went back another time, asked for something FROM THE OWNER, she said " No, we don't have that" and walked away and left me standing there. Wouldn't a little Marketing 101 teach you to suggest an alternative, especially if you want to increase your customer base and sales? Look at the success of MSQC, successful because of clever marketing and GREAT customer service. I'm just sayin'......

I totally agree!! If we treated people like that, at work, we'd be fired! But I guess when you own the shop you can do what you want....even if you have to do it with no customers.
