I know what you mean. Occasionally I shop at an out-of-town shop where they act like it's a total inconvenience to wait on customers. I don't understand attitudes like this...customers are their bread and butter. I go there to see what's new and get a little inspiration from time to time. My DH even commented on their attitude last time I went there.

Attitude is why I drive an hour to smaller quilt shop rather than the one that's closer and bigger. I do go in the closer one but, only when I need something in a hurry. They hve a remark to make about everyone after they leave and really don't care that other customer's are in the shop.

So glad that you found a LQS that makes you feel like home, and it is a place you want to go to. Nothing like that anywhere near where I live.

I have a quilt shop just across the road from where we live, the owner is so rude I will not spend any of my money in that shop, I would rather travel 20 miles to my next nearest shop to put money into a shop where the owner is so nice and helpful, and we have a chat and a laugh everytime I go. I was there just last week and he (yes its a chap who runs it) showed me a lovely quilt he had made to advertise a line of fabric he has in. He had it up on his stall at one of the National quilt shows and sold out of the fabric for the quilt.........good result........and he deserves it.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one that feels this way about some of the LQS's. I will now drive the extra distance to go to the other shop. They even asked me to bring a picture of the quilt or the quilt itself in when I get it finished.

The lady that was helping me pick out fabric - showed me a basket quilt that she was making. She also told me she was going to do a tied quilt and offer a class for it but she's looking for a certain type of wool for tying it.

I let my DH go along and I think he even enjoyed this shop....he wasn't hovering around like a shoplifter, making me nervous, this time.

All i can say is that "they won't be "OWNING THE SHOP" for long!!!!!
CS was my job most of my life and it's a sin the way people are treated now.... not only in stores,, but in life in general...

I live in rural South Carolina, surrounded by many small towns. No quilt shops. I finally found one in GEORGIA, about thirty miles away. I was soooo excited. My DD was spending the day with me and we drove over. This LQS had the rudest people I have ever encountered. So snooty they would drown if it rained. My DD says has we leave, Mom you certainly won't shop here again, stick with Jenny!!! HMMMMMM I wonder if there is a market for a quilt shop...something to think about.

I went into A LQS which was close to work twice, first time she was too busy doing her own sewing to answer my question about bobbins, 2nd time I was looking to upgrade to a new machine, I was looking at buying Janome 7700 which is quite an expensive machine, i was given a very brief overview by some one with very bad breath, she was not very helpful at all, I still bought the machine from from another store. I wont be going back even if it is convenient to work
Remember, people will see your quilts long after you are gone. . . Not your housework!!
