I may have it :) This website: http://www.vsmsoftware.net/Registration/3D/Updates.htm contains all of the updates for your software. If you look at the very bottom you'll see a dongle patch for Vista, I think that may solve your problems :) You can download all of these updates if you need to, but the dongle patch should be the one you're looking for. And I know it's for Vista and not Windows 7, but the actual differences between both operating systems are few. Like I've said since 7 was released, Windows 7 is just Windows Vista with all of the "crap" taken out of it! lol
Let me know if this works, if not I'll look for another solution :) I've read during my searches that people do have this software working on their Windows 7 machines with great success, so it can be done! Good luck!
Just wondering if you've had any success with your card reader Pam :)
One of my friends kept her old embroidery machine when she bought a new Viking Designer Diamond. The older one used floppy discs and a parallel port for the reader/writer box. When her computer went belly up, she found a computer repairman who gave her an old computer with a parallel port for use with her reader/writer box. He said he had lots of them that he used for parts, and couldn't sell any of the old computers and was glad she could use one of them.
Pattycake---I"m not sure about the parallel port thing. I still have my old processor with XP on it. Have to check with my "more teckie" son to see if he knows. Thanks for caring. Pam
I downloaded the patch and I still can't recognize the reader/writer. Thanks for all your help!!!! Pam
Aww, I was hoping that would work. Ask your son if he can set it to run in "compatibility mode", maybe he's used it before and is familiar with it. And he can have a look at the link with all of the updates in it, maybe he can fiddle around and get it to work :) It's a lot easier to fix something when you're sitting in front of it :D
This site has a link to FAQ's for the software, maybe it'll help in some way? http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us/8588.htm Fingers crossed that you can find a solution (other than spending oodles of money on a new machine of course!)
I also just noticed that it says the patch only works in conjunction with the first update, so try downloading both and installing the first upgrade first and then re-installing the patch. Maybe that will work :) Keep us posted!
Boo Hoo---SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to buy and install a KVM switch and cable. I have to processors (Windows 7) and (Windows XP) hooked up to the switch through USB cables to a switch. I have one keyboard--1 mouse--and 1 screen. I use computer processor #1 99.9 percent of the time. When I want to load embroidery designs to my reader/writer (Viking Rose machine) I swich to computer #2----do my thing with the designs. Switch back to #1. Take my loaded card down to my embroidery machine and sew away. I'm one happy camper!!!!!!!
There is a web site called KCM switches online where I found this on sale for 33.00. A whole lot better than many thousands for a new embroidery machine. Thanks so much to all who listened to me and offered advise.
