Re: Am I out of line? UPDATe
Kellie,
I watched the other thread with interest because I've had similar experiences; with cake, not Quilts! I'm way, way behind your skill and experience and so cannot comment! :)
Things like this only hurt because your Quilting really matters to you. It's hard to face discouragement (especially from family, I know!) when the matter in hand is one near to your heart. You and your customer have agreed terms and both are happy. Truly, that is what matters. You have learned so much from this experience and, when the dust settles, this hard-won foundation is something you can build on.
I'm going to watch your gallery and threads with interest; I think you haven't even broken the surface of what you can do.

I would like to apologize to the forum for getting snippy. It was uncalled for. I am sorry. kellie

Hey, Kellie! Thanks for saying that, although I don't think you needed to.
Now, are the Rubber Duckies going to be showing up? I think you were thinking of making something for a pregnant friend. I love those Duckies, and really need to have an excuse to use them in a quilt myself. No pregies that I know, and my one friend who was pregnant (second time in 21 years--new baby has a 21 year old brother!) gave birth a couple of weeks ago. Not too many of my friends are pregnant, when you are in our age category, it better not happen!

Oh yes Jean they will be showing up I'm wanting to get that one started soon... I'm still working on a pattern in my head. I'm really thinking a D9P instead of the dresdens. I think it would show off the fabric better and if i use some solids with it, maybe a yellow blue/green mix. I'm really trying to stay as neutral as possible. kellie

And, maybe, just maybe one of these days I'll share a funny RUBBER DUCKIE story . . . MAYBE.

That sounds darling! I think that would be so cute. Let me know if yu need more ducks, they finally showed up at my closest Hancocks. I made a d9p baby quilt for one of my friends and it turned out very cute. She 's the one I mentioned who had her second child 21 years after the first. Needless to say, they are over the moon over having a baby again. But she just finished her doctorate and having a baby has certainly altered her career path!

Waiting... Your stories always entertain!

Kellie, glad you're not giving up on quilting AND this forum. I'm sure no one intentionally wrote anything to hurt your feelings. You know that sometimes the written word comes across differently than if we spoke it. You cannot 'hear' inflection, etc., when something is typed. AND, opinions are just like bottoms, everyone has one. (Like the way I cleaned that up?) Love you and can't wait to see pictures of future creations.

Way cool Kellie! Appreciate it and also agree with Becki...we all have opinions and (_|_)s. lol
I love Jenny's tutorials, however I'm a details person I work within 1/32" in commercial print layouts - I also have a financial background (I balance my accounts down to the penny - I know I'm sick lol). Therefore I look on YouTube for other professional quilting instructors, who might have the subject I'm having problems covered in more details. I'm also a visual/audio learner, all these things together make a difference as to how fast I can pick up a new aspect in a job/hobby.
We know you have the talent within you, we are all here together to support each other and like friends we should also be able tell our sister friend something she might not want to really hear. I know that you asked for all opinions and so would I. I want to improve my work just like you. :)
Happy trails and let's make some beautiful quilts together. I'm getting ready to cut fabric for Lily (one of the foster children) this morning.
Huggers, Ruby

Oh, please do tell! It's chucking it down here in Ireland and I'm waiting in all day for a Handyman. I can't even sew in case he comes and need a laugh BADLY! :)
Kellie, what's a D9P when it's at home with it's feet up? (confused)
