Kind of harsh, I think. But that's just me.As some one else said, tied quilts do not take as long, and the amount of work actually put into a tied quilt is a lot less than that of a machine or hand quilted quilt. I am going to go out on a limb here. I am nothing if not honest, sometimes brutally so. I personally would not pay that much for this quilt based on several factors. Granted you have 38 hrs into this quilt, but part of that is because you were having so much trouble, being a rather new quilter. The top itself is not a difficult, or time consuming in itself. The top is nice, but not the quality that one would expect to pay a good price for. Although you finally got the binding on, it does not look neat and tidy with mitred corners, and no issues. I don't want to sound mean or overly critical, but due to the fact that she purchased all the materials, and all you did was put a simple top together, tied it, not quilted, and did a rather poor job of putting the binding on I would not pay $250 for this particular quilt. I know you had a booger of a time with it, but that is not the customers fault. I feel really bad for you, but in the same respect, you should not have taken on a project or commission that you had no idea how to do. I don't mean to sound discouraging, but before you taking on such a large project you should have already known the basics of piecing and binding. Ok bottom line, I would not pay more than $100 for the work that was done on this. So sorry, but you did say you wanted all opinions, and that is mine. A more experienced quilter could have done everything you did in a couple of days. Ok peeps, waiting for the quilting Gods to rain down on me.
