I am making a king size quilt/bedspread using 12 inch blocks, each with a different pattern. I stared my FIRST block today. I am determined to make each block perfect. Right away I had problems. First my tension was bad and I had big loops on the back. Rip! I changed needles, checked the bobbin, and rethreaded. I got the tension adjusted just fine now. So, then it was on to quarter square triangles! I know how to do them, I thought. I've done them in the distant past, so no big deal. Wrong. I had a heck of a time getting the center points to match up. I nested, or at least I thought, my seams. I pinned and pinned. I was using the method where you take two larger squares, mark down the diagnal, sew, cut, and resew, then square up. Each time my points were bad. It shouldn't be this hard. I finally got half way decent points by pinning real good. How do you make quarter squares that line up? Cut up little triangles? I don't like that. By the way, I just love June Taylor's laser cut rulers. The one for squaring up these and half squares is wonderful. I also have her big one. Love that laser cut.
