    Smile New here

Hey everyone!! I'm Nancy and new to quilting and this board. I hope to learn all kinds of good tips from you pros. I look forward to getting to know you all.

I was reading here about a video on quilt as you go. There wasn't any mention where to find it. Can someone point me in the right direction? I'm curious how that works. I wonder if that would be the best for me as I have a very bad back and have been wondering how to best baste as well as quilt.

I'm trying to build up a stash and its going slowly. I'm interested in doing some scrap quilts. Does anyone know the best place to get scraps from?

TIA....for your help. Nancy aka Skysnaina

Don't call us pros! Most of us are not, but maybe some. Try searching by typing in quilt block video as you go. I bet you'll get a hit. If you search just for quilt block video, you will find a lot. Also, try MSQC's quilting tutorials. Jenny is a great instructor. I also like Kaye Wood and Eleanor Burns. Find their videos, too.

Regarding scraps, I think it just accumulates with time. Some people find fabric in thrift stores at a bargin. I was just in our attic and found a box labeled quilt scraps, and it was full. I'll just add it to the three bins I have of it already. Maybe someone has an idea where to find scraps. I did find two fat quarter bundles in that box, all wrapped up with their ribbon. There are about 10 quarters in each bundle. That was a find. I just hope the heat in the attic didn't ruin the fabric.

And one more thing. I order a lot of fabric from fabric.com. Others like Connecting Threads. Of course, MSQC has nice fabric, too.

Welcome to the forum! I am pretty new too and have found the "newbie" questions and answers very helpful. New quilters are wondering the same things. I order a lot online. The above mentioned places are all good. I have also ordered from fatquarter.com. and etsy too.

Welcome from Missouri. Jenny has a great tut for quilt as you go strip quilt. Kay Wood also has a great tut for what she calls a 6 hr serger quilt. Can be done without serger. I have pics of both kind in my album Cardinal Glennon Quilts. You can also quilt as you go by simply starting with a backing, and batting, and build the quilt from the middle out. I think there is a tut for that as well. Just go to you tube and search 'quilt as you go'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kArIng_1Nzc, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rl_OPPpXNLM, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOTV-YSF-48
