    Default Crinkly fabric

Is there a name for it?

A friend has a baby who is now becoming interested in touching things and I would like to make her a tabby square...but I would like to put something in it that makes the crunching crinkly noise.

Is there a purpose made "fabric"...or what ideas have you for things I could use...

    Cheers

Interesting question . . . I don't think I have ever seen anything like that but I have seen commercial baby toys that made the crinkling noise. What about several pieces (layers) of the mylar like they use to wrap flowers in a florist shop, or one of those mylar balloons with no air in it - also thinking of the crinkly stuff that is often wrapped around something like an Easter basket.
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

Some cat toys are made of that crinkly fabric.

cellophane is what Sandy was trying to come up with. I'm pretty sure that is what they use in the cat and dog toys I've seen. If you use several layers it should work.

A clean potato chip bag is what I use for that sound.

You could try some crinoline. It's a fabric tha'st kind of crinkly but doesn't make noise. I'd check out a general fabric store that carries different types of fabrics other than a quilt shop with quilting cotton. You can find lot s of interesting fabrics to use there. I bet a baby would love the feel of faux fur, short and long hair. How about some soft fleece?

I have read in the past that people used several layers of plastic grocery bags. Looks like the concensus is the cellophane wrap used to wrap gift baskets. I have seen it at Dollar Tree or Dollar Bills, whatever your $1 store might be called!

Years ago when I made my children toys, I used the crunched up pieces of a cookie tray, from a package of boughten cookies. I think the Sun chip bag would be perfect, too! VERY noisy!
