    Lightbulb Going on vacation

It's that time of year to take a road trip with DH the end of this month (of course that's after the new DGS is born) . I need any info on quilt shops along my path that is worth me seeking out while begging DH to stop at for me. We are going down to Roanoke VA then across the state to VA beach then up to Baltimore MD then Ocean City Md then home, unless we find something else to exploring along the way...hint hint. Does anyone know of any amazing quilt shops along the route? I already tried to talk him into driving me to Missouri but he said no :'(

There is at least one good quilt shop in the Williamsburg area. NOT in Historic Williamsburg, but out on one of the outer highways. Don't remember the name of it, but you can google to find shops along your route. Good luck!

I just found a book at my local quilt shop, it is called Quilter's Travel Companion. It has quilt shops listed for every state and some in Canada. Names addresses and phone numbers. If you PM me with your email address I'll scan the Virginia page and email it to you. The book is as thick as a good size phone book, and cost $20. MSQC is in there. I guess shops had to pay for an ad, because the two in Winterset, IA aren't listed-where I was two weeks ago. (Fons and Porter being one of them). Guess they get enough national publicity through other media. These books are published every other year and have dates of shows that occur on a regular basis. It is published by Chalet Publishing out of Colorado Springs, CO. Website is www.quilterstravelcompanion.com

P.S. What's he got against driving to Missouri, except for the extra 1600 miles round trip?

Have a great trip. I love road trips. In fact DH and I were just talking last night about needing to take a road trip. He wants to go somewhere near St. Louis to pick of a new black powder gun, I said we could do that IF we went north first to Hamilton, MO and then across the state to St. Louis.... He wasn't to thrilled about that! LOL

There are quite a few nice quilt shops in Virginia. Roanoke has one nearby in Wythville called Batiks Etc. Here is a website for you to look at. Williamsburg has Love 2 Quilt, near Kings Mill area..

Jean I've heard of that book. I think I will order it. Thanks for the heads up Zen. I know we will be in Roanoke for 3 of those days. I'll get his grandma to ask to take up to the one there for sure. He'll go for her. Lol
