I finished my throw size farm quilt top and will soon be putting it together. I have bought six fabrics in colors of purples, greens, blues, and creams. I also bought 10 yards of a black. My plans are to make a king size quilt with each 12 inch block a different pattern, but using a combination of the same fabrics to give the overall quilt a, hopefully, coordinated look. Each block will be sashed in the black. I bought the fabric off of various sites on the net, and I wasn't all that pleased with their shade and value when I recieved them, but I like them well enough. I have spent a lot of time looking for different quilt block patterns, and have close to 100 selected and printed. I won't need that many, but it gives me choices. I have not liked the new bedding look with exposed pillows that require shams and throws to make it look like a made up bed. I am going to try to make this quilt more like a bedspread eliminating the need for a dust ruffle and shams, although I might make a few throw pillows. Easy enough. The quilt will be way too large for my frame, so I will be making it in at least four sections joining them with sashing. I have reviewed the "how to join sections" videos, and think I can do it. This will be a long project, but I am really looking forward to making so many different blocks. I am determined each one will be perfect, too! Wish me luck. I will need it. That farm quilt will be put together when I feel like stopping on my king quilt for awhile.
