Has anyone purchased fabric from Connecting Threads that is made specifically for them? I wondered what the quality is like. At those prices I am a bit hesitant to make a quilt for a child. Any thoughts?

I haven't ordered anything from them. Just recently, I ordered some Michael Mitchell fabric from fabric.com, as well as some other fabric. Their fabric seems to be of good quality, although I cannot confess to be a good judge of fabric quality. I know that others on this forum like Connecting Threads.
If you order a major manufacturer's line of fabric, aren't you fairly certain of the quality? Although someone on the forum said that one manufacturer makes a line for Joanns that is poorer quality than what you find in quilt shops. I've ordered from fabric.com and like their service and products. Thir postage costs aren't out of line. And they do have avery wide selection of fabric. I may have ordered from connecting threads, but more thread than fabric.
I have ordered fabric from them and like the quality. It is not quite the top of the line, but it is still nice. I especially like getting their clearance yardage for quilt backs.
I have ordered from Connecting Threads and I like their fabric. I have only ordered it for backing a quilt though so I don't know what their prints may be like.
If I made quilts for shows or selling I would want nicer fabric, the ones I make are for personal use or family gifts so it doesn't really matter.
I have ordered quite a bit of fabric from Connecting Threads and the quality is good. JoAnn fabric on the other hand is poor quality in my eyes. I am tempted to try the JoAnn Quilters quality line. However try Connecting Threads.
I have purchased fabric from them. It is good quality, 100% cotton. My only problem..the colors you see on the screen are not always the color of the fabric. The typical color issue on the actual color and the pictured color...most places have this problem which is why I seldom buy online But the fabric itself is fine..good as any I buy at Joann's Craft store of their quilters 100% cottons.
I wanted a medium red...crayon red. I looked at the images on the screen and Cherry Red was the color I wanted. I ordered a yard, it got here and it was nearly orange! I emailed them and said...no big deal as it will cost me more to return it but that I was mentioning it incase they thought it might be a good idea to change the name to "orange red" or something other than cherry red as this is no where near "cherry" red...that is a medium red, no tints. They responded and said that they thought "tomato red" was more what I was looking for and sent me a yard of that to replace the other one..no charge. I thought that was nice of them. But that one got here..and although there are tomatoes that are that light orangish red color....so the name was right, it still was not red red. They did say that if you click on the actual image of the color it takes you to a more detailed explanation f the color...which I didn't know in the beginning, and on Cherry red..it did say had an orangish tint to it...but I didn't know that when I ordered. So just watch and red the descriptions and know that like every where else...colors are not always true. But their threads are great and their charms are great too!
I order from Connecting Threads and have never had an issue with their fabrics. It's washed well and is nice fabric for a decent price.
I have quite a bit... quality is fine... and pricing is great... i get a lot at clearance... it's probably not the 12 dollar a yard type,,, although they do vary,,, but ALL have been to my liking...i LOVE there charm packs..have made Jenny's charm table runner several times... I'm not always in love with their prints,,, but when i am,,, i buy....now i just have to get foing with the boxes sitting here...LOL
I love CT and order all the time! LOVE the batiks. Should be getting an order on monday of the new releases...pretty!!!
Thanks for the responses. I was looking at their robot fabric, Mastermind, and thought it would be a fun project for a 5 year old boy. I don't care much for JoAnn's fabric unless it's muslin, so I may just give this a try. That, or Mechanical Genius from Timeless Treasures. After the last problem I had from a longarmer friend, I learned how improtant it is to get quality fabric because when I had all the stitches taken out and redone, you couldn't even tell where the old quilting was done.
I order from them all the time. I do find their cheaper fabrics will fray very easily but if you are careful and run a zig zag first there's no problem. The better fabrics and the batiks are great. Love their threads too!!
I'm all for CT too - nice quality - never had any problem with running colors, cheap looking weave or excesive fraying. Somatimes I buy designer fabric from a LQS too, but then I'm almost afraid to cut into it
I have never purchased at CT. I think they have great prices though. I had purchased some fabric from another quilter and she had thrown in 2 - 1/4 yrd cuts of 2 different fabrics and when I looked at the selvege, I noted that it was CT. The 2 pieces I have have a wonderful weight and hand to them. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them in the future (like I need to order more fabric!)
I haven't had any problems with their fabric that I used with Heather's and Project Linus quilts. The weight is good and the fabrics feel soft.
The thread works great in my Brother Isadore, Husq. Lily and my Singer. :)
hot dog! Another project in the works! I may try their thread as well.
I order from them all the time..fabric, charm pks, jelly roll strips, etc..and I love the Essential Pro Thread..they are fast with great shipping..customer service is great. Not M*Q but they will do in a pinch. :)
i order all the time from them i have gotten many kits and finished them they always send more then what it calls for in the amount in the kits. and i have extra for other stuff. i still have some leftover fabric i just finished a kit of their scrappy stars quilt and love it.
Kelly, good to know because I saw a kit with the material I want to use and always heard kits in general don't give enough material for those oops we can make at times.
