    Default Vintage machine...

Last week-end we went to a sale and the lady had this 1969 Singer sewing machine in a sewing table with attachments and all the design disks - even the manual. There were a lot of extras in the box and in the drawer of the cabinet. I paid $20 for it! It works - a few tweaks and couple of drops of oil and she was humming along.

I actually wanted it for the cabinet but have decided that I'm not taking it out of the cabinet - it was well taken care of and even has the name of the original ower in the manual.

Wow, lucky you. Enjoy. But I have never seen all those disks before or know what they are used for.

My original Kenmore bought in the 60's had the cams that you used to do decorative stitching. This looks like a nice well cared for vintage machine, and you can’t beat the price!

They are cams that guide the needle position to do decorative stitching. This was the time they transitioned from plain zigzag to decorative stitching. My Kemnore purchased in '64 had them.

My sister had a Kenmore that had Cams....I've never seen them! I never really knew what they were for except that it had something to do with different stitches. Cool! Good find!

When I was typing "disks" I thought that didn't look right - so I'll have to remember that they are cams.

I usually never find anything like this - everyone else does. My mother in law has a machine in a table that has cams with it, I don't know what kind, but she said when she's finished with it, if I want it I can have it. She used to do a lot of sewing but now she just uses it for repairs.
